Eccentric Machines.

Eccentric Machines is rearchitecting robotic motion and control around a fundamentally new actuator architecture, built for the next wave of robotics and embodied AI. The actuator (the motor, transmission, and control electronics at every robot joint) is what turns a command into physical motion. Its tagline is two words, reimagine motion.
The timing matters. Robot intelligence is improving fast, and models can now plan movements the hardware underneath struggles to execute. Most robots still run on actuators adapted from industrial automation, parts that are heavy and stiff, tuned to repeat one motion inside a cage. Eccentric Machines starts at that gap.
What they're building
The product is an actuator architecture rather than a robot. In the company's words, they are "rearchitecting robotic motion and control with a fundamentally new actuator architecture." The actuator sets the limits on everything a robot does: how much force it applies, how fast it reacts, how precisely it moves, how long it runs on a battery, and what the machine costs to build. Improve the actuator and every robot built on top of it improves.
This is physical, unglamorous work. Actuator development is torque curves, thermal limits, machining tolerances, and test rigs, hardware that either holds up under load or does not. There is no shortcut through it, which is part of the point.
Why we backed the founders and team
Our thesis is that the next decade belongs to companies doing the hard physical work underneath the software everyone can see. Robotics is the clearest case. The models are arriving, but the bodies are not. Actuators are among the most constraining components in a modern robot, and a company that solves them becomes infrastructure for the field, for every arm, leg, and gripper that follows.
Eccentric Machines is building at exactly that layer, below the demo, at the joint where intelligence becomes motion. That is the kind of company we back. The work is measured in prototypes and test cycles rather than announcements.
